Just slowin' it down a bit!

My goal is to be ever growing and changing- ultimately becoming more like Jesus. I desire this deeply for my children as well. Lately I have had an overwhelming sense of peace and joy that is clearly from the Lord. I wondered why I feel less hectic and stressed ( it’s not because I am getting more rest!) but I believe it’s for several reasons: God is answering my desire to give me more of a passion for Him so I can give out of a full heart of praise to my family and others. I have been pleading with Him to give me an added measure of grace, encouragement, and confidence in His strength to do what He has called me to do. I also believe it’s because there are some mighty fine prayer warriors out there on my behalf! Lastly, I have been making a conscious effort to “slow down” in my thinking and speaking, especially towards my children. I have noticed a positive impact on my over all attitude and thoughts and words. I have been working on living out Proverbs 15:28- The heart of the righteous weighs its answers (or studies how to answer) but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
God is teaching me to slow down and just savor the moments of each moment! Often I find myself thinking, “OK, breakfast is done. What next? Ok, lunch is done. Almost naptime and some quiet time for me! Ok, dinner needs to get going. Ok, it’s almost bath time and whew! Almost bed time! Then Gabe and I can have some alone time!” But I know quickly time passes and I want to enjoy each breath of life and to teach this to my kids as well! When I do slow down, I find it easier to walk in the Spirit and not the sinful nature of my own flesh. When I slow down, I can think more clearly and pray and give thanks. When I slow down, my words are sweet and loving and focused on God and His Word. I remembered Isaiah 55:11 when I woke at 4 am two nights ago. I actually just read it all today and was refreshed by what God wanted to say.
So shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent. For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace;
God’s words are on my tongue and in my heart when my mind is stayed on Him! And I know my children are hearing and learning TRUTH and God is growing and changing us all into His masterpiece! God is good.
