Dreaming of a Pearl

She excitedly told me that she remembered a dream she had in the night.

"Mom, it was about this beautiful pearl that was so white and sparkling. It even looked like a fruit snack. I kept looking and looking for it. I wanted my dream to last forever because I wanted to find it before I woke up. And then I found it! I was so happy that I even woke up smiling."

I was so tickled about her dream because she said this right after we were talking about "going our own way" like little sheep who think it's better to be off wandering alone, rather than with their shepherd. She had also very matter of factly mentioned how she really enjoys "going her own way" sometimes because it feels better than doing the right thing. (I am so grateful for her openness in sharing her heart. She is very verbal and speaks whatever she thinks.:) As we were wrapping it up, she suddenly remembered her dream.

It was such a precious moment to share more about God working in her heart, so I read her these parables in Matthew 13:

The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

She asked after I read it, "Do you think God gave me that dream so I would read about the pearl?" I told her maybe so and even more than that we are able to learn what it means to truly follow Our Shepherd. "Going our own way" may seem right or fun or easy but it is not the best way. We have to be willing to SURRENDER ALL and GIVE UP RIGHTS TO OURSELF to follow Him. The Kingdom of Heaven is more valuable than anything else that we have or need in our lives here on earth.

His Word is alive and I love how He shows up in moments least expected!
Lord, I surrender all. I give up all rights to myself. Thank You for being my Shepherd.

So sweet how little Ella Grace is learning the same lesson this almost 36 year old is learning! Doesn't matter if we are 6, 36, or 96 Jesus is still working in us until we are perfected! thankful :)
