"A happy heart makes a cheerful face" Proverbs 15:13
I can remember my sweet mom, who always ( as far as I can remember) wore a smile. Now, I know she did not always have a happy heart, especially as she was suffering from cancer. But I do know, that her face was almost always cheerful. People wanted to be near her and with her and would always comment on her lovely smile and was beautiful inside and out. She was soft spoken and patient and very kind. From my view as a teenager with a mom dying of cancer, I stood amazed amazed at the joy she had even as death knocked at her door. I think it may have even bothered me that she wasn't angry or bitter. It didn't make sense to me how she could embrace the cross she had to carry. Now, 20 something years later, I see it more clearly. She had such faith to trust her Heavenly Father for her life. She was like the woman that Proverbs 31 tells us about.
v 25, 26 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. v 30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
I'm thankful for her 46 years she sowed into our lives. Today I am especially grateful for her desire to model a happy heart and wearing a smile in the midst of suffering. What beauty. What joy. What grace. May I leave a legacy as she did. Not just the smile, but as did my Mom, may my life be one of a woman who fears the Lord.

Thanks for the reminder. I want this too. Only with Jesus.
Thank you for your post, Kelly. Your mother sounded like a beautiful person, inside and out. That must be where you got it from:) I Love you, friend.
