Humility

He who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 14:11; 18:14
God... gives grace to the humble.. humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will life you up. James 4:6, 10
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mihgty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:6

Can you tell what God's been impressing on my heart lately? I've been reading a good book called Humility, The Journey Toward Holiness by Andrew Murray. It's one to read and re-read. Here is an exerpt that has really gotten me thinking.

"Let us choose to be weak, to be low, to be nothing. Let humility be to us joy and gladness. Let us gladly glory and take pleasure in weakness, in all that will humble us and keep us low; the power of Christ will rest upon us. Christ humbled Himself, therefore God exalted Him. Christ will humble us and keep us humble; let us heartily consent, let us trustfullly and joyfully accept all that humbles; the power of Christ will rest upon us. We shall find that the deepest humility is the secret of the truest happiness, of a joy that nothing can destroy."

Oh Lord, empty me now and forevermore to be your vessel so I can live out Your will. that I would live my life in reverent fear of You, not ignoring You or treating You casually. Help me be more of a grateful child. Today, may I be a living stone as I am being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and that I would offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to You through Jesus Christ, My Lord. May I also declare Your praises because You called me out of darkness into the wonderful light! ( 1 Peter 2:4, 9-10) Its only in humility like Jesus that I can do any of this. It's the cry of my heart today. Make me a woman of true humility. Thank You for Jesus.

I noticed you are/were reading "Humility" by Andrew Murray. I am looking for it today at the library. It was one of two mentioned in my Crown Ministry study guide. The other book mentioned is "Money, Possessions, and Eternity" by Randy Alcorn.

Thanks for your wonderful words and generosity of heart in sharing them!
