"Good morning Mom!" I love hearing these words as Ella Grace wakes and happily greets me when she rolls out of bed. Usually, she comes to meet me as I am reading my bible or praying and I always ask her if she wants to read or pray with me and she climbs into my lap and we talk to God together. This morning was a little different. I noticed Gabe hadn't gotten up yet, so I went in and we talked a few minutes before we heard her voice. We called her into our room and we all prayed for our new day and what lies ahead. Gabe got up and helped me make the bed and I said, "Daddy, thank you for helping me make the bed. Thank you for serving me." I told her that Daddy was doing that because he loves God and loves me. Then I asked her what we could do to help Daddy. We got out his uniform and all that goes with it and laid it on the bed "so it would be easier for him to get dressed and he didn't have to do it himself." I asked her why we were doing this and she said "because we love him and we want to serve him." We talked about other ways that we can show God's love by helping and serving others, especially her sister.
Love helps by serving. I read her the story about the Good Samaritan, one of her favorites.
Today we will be on the look out for ways to demonstrate God's love by helping others...especially when the easy way is to serve ourselves.
Galatians 5:13 13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
