I have been so blessed by the words of Deuteronomy 8 yesterday and today. It is a reminder to not forget God but to live in total commitment to Him. He was forgotten by the children of Israel yet He desired that they remember Him and live according to His ways. Isn’t this true for us? How often I can forget God in my days. I remember Him first thing in the morning and when I go to sleep but as the day progresses, I admit that I sometimes forget Him, sometimes forget to observe His commands due to my own flesh, pull into this world and the enemy's schemes. I have such a burden for myself and children to "not live on bread alone but on EVERY word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Deut. 8:3. The only real and true satisfaction is God Himself in everything. I realize it's just not enough to say Bible verses at breakfast and read a story, it has to be more-- a living, breathing, speaking of Him always, that His words be on my lips continually. That we would pass this spiritual heritage that is promised to our children, that they in turn would pass the baton to their children and keep God's word alive and living in each of us! It starts here, with me. Today, may I do as Deuteronomy 8:1 says as well as Deuteronomy 8:6. This is what must be spoken on my mouth and in my heart always. I shared this with the girls at breakfast and I spoke about "obeying God and doing what He says." I know that Ella Grace got it when I explained it that way.. now may I keep watching and praying that we are all living these words- that I will follow through.
1 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers.
6 Observe the commands of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and revering him.
