Encouragement from the Lord

I loved to read when I was little. Then as I grew up I started resenting it, I think because I wasn’t the one initiating it. When I began to grow in the Word in my early 20's, I developed a passion for reading again. I had struggled with comprehension early on and reading and I became more self conscious for me. When I actually learned to study the Bible inductively and "figuring out truths for myself", reading- The Word (especially) became something I couldn’t get enough of. I desire so much that my children have a passion for the Word as I do. I have started praying that out loud with them every day that they will love the Bible and treasure God’s words in their hearts. Ella Grace has a definite passion for books and would take a book over a toy, so I hope that her love for the Word becomes more evident as she grows into a woman of God. This morning she wanted to sit on the couch and read her book about Jesus. I could hear her reading about Bethlehem and the "mean" king Herod and the Nile River- all little highlights in her story. I had to thank God for His encouragement in my prayer.

Potty training is going well, and it truly is "training." Something is clicking and Ella Grace is showing an interest in really trying rather than adamantly refusing to try. This morning she had an accident on the floor and I told her it was ok, that she shouldn’t be discouraged, but rather encouraged for wanting to wear big girl pants and doing well in her potty times. She asked me to wipe her legs off and get new underwear and then said, "Mommy, pray I be not discouraged in my potty" so we prayed and she was delighted. I had to thank God for this encouragement as well.

The verse I had just read that really gave me a sweet encouragement from the Lord was Psalm 119:137- “Righteous are you, O Lord, and Your laws are right. The statutes You have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy.

This is our reading for today. :) Gabe is here this morning and was excited to hear these little gems! It gave him insight on how to pray for our day. Thank You Lord that "Your statues are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple."
Psalm 119:129, 120
