Yesterday we went to a park in town after having dinner. Ella Grace watched other kids play first before going on the playground and once she felt safe, she was off- with me by her side. :) A little girl, about 4 or 5, was walking in front of her and Ella Grace said, "Me go first!" I reminded her that we let others go first because that is what God likes and it shows her we love our friends. “I know sometimes you want to be first, but you feel happy when you wait and let someone go before you, right?”
I thought about this concept more and more as the day went on and I wanted to find out what God really does say. I knew it was more than just putting others first. Was it about love? Serving? Humility? I couldn't seem to find the Scripture I wanted, but here are some I found that I will be talking about this week. I desire that my children grow to be selfless and humble, empathetic and loving others more than self. What a good lesson for me today.... to serve others when I want to put my needs first. (This very second, Gabe is looking for his phone. "It's in my bag,” I said. Silence is his reply. I am guessing he can’t find it. I’ll be right back.)
Ok, I am glad I was able to put my thoughts into action and go serve my husband when I just wanted to type this. Obedience is the key, right???? I can’t expect my kids to get it if I am not living out the Truth. Ouch.
Here are the verses: Can you think of others?
Galatians 5:13 But through love serve one another....
Philippians 2:3-5 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
May our attitudes be that of Christ today!

Great post, and very convicting. Here is the passage I thought of this morning.
Mark 10:42ff.
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Thanks for the verses. This isn't natural, is it? Thank God for these little nudgings and giving us opportunities to grow.
