Back Home

Our vacation to SC was wonderful. It was much needed and so great to see our families, but it is very nice to be home again to consistency and familiarity. When I came home yesterday, I had so many things on my mind to get done, but I decided to focus on the most important- teaching, training and encouraging my little ones. It's easy ( for me) on vacation to let things slide and not be as consistent as when I am at home. So I came home ready to start fresh. I prayed last night and this morning that God would give me verses for the things I need to teach or re-teach my kids. I became overwhelmed because it seemed like the list was so long and I wasn't sure where to start. Isaiah 42:16 was food for my soul.

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

Sometimes I feel blind as a parent and so often I walk down unfamiliar territory with my kids ( ex- potty training!) It's delightful to know that God promises to show us the way as we continue to ask for more and more wisdom! I am so confident that God will lead Gabe and me in the exact ways to train up our children for His glory. He is worthy of all of our praise and trust. I'll be sharing the issues at hand and the verses I'm teaching... but I'll wait a couple of days. Today was only day one!

What a great verse. I think even in the roads we HAVE been down, God still changes the course a little to keep us "blind" enough that we have to continue to look to Him. This is very evident in those of us that have more than one child. For example if you are potty training your 3rd child, it isn't going to be the same as it was for your 1st or 2nd. What worked for them might not work for the 3rd. Thus, leaving us "blind" and on an "unfamiliar path" again. We have to then seek God for more wisdom. I know He loves that.
Thanking Him today for His promise not to forsake us!!
