I have been reading a book that is so encouraging for me in the midst of life. ( You Can Change by Tim Chester)
Often I feel stuck. Stuck in patterns of behavior and I label myself as those things and think I will never change. "That's just how I am." (Impatient, worried, critical, cynical, comparison, to name a few) But this mind-set is hopeless. What I need is a constant gaze to Jesus IN THE MOMENTS of these patterns. I don't have to stay. I need this reminder every moment that God's Transforming Power is the only real, lasting power that will ever change me or free me. As I lift my cup in times of helplessness, He so graciously fills me and re-charges me to keep on! We have been singing the hymn CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY for the past few days. Honestly, sometimes I forget the Truth and I forget the price that was paid for me. Then, when I re-focus my gaze to Jesus from myself, I'm blown away that the same power that freed Christ from the grave and rose FOR ME is the power that lives in me through His Spirit to free me from my "labels." Grace. May I always remember this.
No longer stuck.. I'm free! Alleluia!
Here is Excerpt from his book:
"It's as if there are two feasts: the feast of God and the feast of sin. We are invited to both. God invites us to find satisfaction in Him. Sin entices us with its lies, to look for satisfaction in sin. So we're double-booked. All the time we have to choose which feast to attend.... Sin promises much. But it doesn't deliver, and it charges a high price- broken lives, broken relationships, broken hopes... But God offers us a feast that satisfies. He offers delight for our souls.. God's feast is so much better! And the price tag reads, "No cost." There's no charge. It's His gift to us. Which feast are you going to attend today?" p. 36-37
But here is what's even better: Our own personal invitation from God:
Isaiah 55:1-2
Invitation to the Thirsty
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Thank You, Lord for allowing me to live under the reign of grace. What a Savior You are! Alleluia!
