Today marks a special day in our family. Ella Grace is seven years old and I promise, just yesterday she was tiny in my arms. She brings sweetness to those around her and she is really growing into a young girl with a heart for God and others. She said tonight her favorite part of her birthday was being with her family. :)
Here is what she wrote on Good Friday and read it again to us today as we celebrated our Risen Lord:
"Dear Jesus, Thank You for dying for my sins but it makes me sad to think about it, but also makes me happy to think about You rising. I love You Jesus like no one else and help our friends. I know you will. That's what I love about you. You always help. He is risen today!" Love, Ella
As I listened to her read, I knew God was reminding me of His love for me in such a real way. It has been a very challenging weekend ( actually last several weeks.. I am weary, feeling helpless ( not hopeless, thank You Jesus!) in parenting. I had heard our pastor preach the gospel today and it was a wonderful time of reflection, praise, prayer and teaching. But when I heard the reminder from my own flesh and blood, my enthusiastic Ella Grace, my heart opened afresh.
My struggles are His gain.. My weariness is His strength...My helplessness points to His faithfulness...My striving becomes His rest.
"I LOVE YOU JESUS LIKE NO ONE ELSE." "YOU ALWAYS HELP."
My Jesus. My Helper.
Happy Birthday sweet seven year old. Thank You for such child like faith. I love watching you grow up. I especially love watching God move mountains in you! May He continue.
I know He will.
