Are You Listening?

Last night, I came across a short little devotional by Max Lucado. I read it and it just pricked and tugged at my heart, even into today. Today at the pool, a dear friend was sharing something she had read and it was exactly that. While the kids swam, we had a sweet hour of fellowship. I just love it when He shows Himself mighty in the middle of an everyday conversation! He has been encouraging me to LISTEN to HIM more than I do anyone or anything else.

Are You Listening?

By Max Lucado

Everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. Matthew 7:8

Once there was a man who dared God to speak: Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God. And I will follow. Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God. And I will fight.

And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, and waited for God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered. He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church. He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.

And God waited for the man to respond. And he waited … and waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts; bricks and not lives, he decided God had done nothing. Finally he looked to God and asked, Have you lost your power?

And God looked at him and said, Have you lost your hearing?

I thought that was a good little reminder to be on guard and be more in tune with My Savior-- to His ways, not my own. I had asked the Lord yesterday to help me be quick to listen to HIM and that I would see Him in a new way! May I hear You, see You and be yielded completely to You. May I "be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord (my) labor is not in vain." 1 Cor 15:58

Lord, I take You at Your Word.
