A Fun Day

Today has been such a delightful day! We met a new friend Kim and her kids at Homestead Farm about 30 minutes from our home. It was beautiful drive seeing the countryside. Something we didn't see often in the desert! We had a new praise music CD and played it and played it and played it.... and I even took a wrong turn on purpose so we could listen to it some more. When we arrived, we noticed the huge sign that told us what we could pick today: Watermelons, tomatoes, blackberries, and peaches. We loaded up the kids in two big ole wheelbarrows and made our way down to the orchard and gardens. The kids LOVED it! When we were finished and covered in sweat, we made our way to the animals (pigs, goats and chickens) and then to the little pond near-by. I was sad that I didn't have a camera to document all the fun. I know there will be a next time, so we'll get some then. We ate lunch at a yummy noodle place and are now home waiting on Gabe so we can go to the pool. I am excited about all the teaching/learning opportunities here. It may be that Fridays are our field trip days. We'll see. Now off to look for some recipes for peach cobbler and fried green tomatoes!

Sounds like a good day! I have a good recipe for green tomato cake that is very good, if you want it. I think we're going to spend Fridays on museums and field trips, too. :)
