Baby Steps

I want to be a good mom, but even more I want to be a godly mom. I have such a hunger and desire to teach my kids the Word as well as live it out every step of the way. With little ones, it's hard for me to make the time to sit and really study the Word. I got up a few minutes early hoping to have a good thirty minutes to read and pray. I read Matthew 6:32-33 becuase I had it marked in yellow. 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I was almost ready to go back and read all of Chapter 6, but Miriam was stirring so I just re-read that verse and prayed-- knowing that may be my only quiet time of the day. Five minutes would have to do! :) I had a thought as I prayed.. "Teach this to your kids today. Just take babysteps." I grabbed a notecard and wrote out a simple summary: God knows everything that we need; put God first in all that we do. When we had breakfast and our Bible reading, I read the card and we talked about these truths. I want to share with my girls what I learn every day. I know it doesn't have to be a lot; just simple truths that say so much about God. I can't wait to see what simple treasures we glean from tomorrow.
